The City
Sometimes referred to as Galicia's best kept secret, Ourense is located inland among the rolling green mountains of northwest Spain. It's location in a river basin with mountains on all sides produces a microclimate that protects it from the usually very rainy Galician weather and allows for hot summers that might remind you more of some more southern Spanish cities. If it gets too hot, you can make the short trip to the coast and claim one of the many beach towns for the weekend!
