Hospital Experience
The Lozano Blesa Clinical University Hospital is the second biggest hospital in Zaragoza and it is a teaching hospital, working side by side with the medical school and nursing school in the city. This hospital was founded in 1974 and nowadays has over 800 beds. Since it is a teaching hospital, it’s a perfect environment for Fellows to shadow and learn from physicians, residents and Spanish med school students.
I would recommend Atlantis because it really helped me understand if medicine would be right for me. Aside from all the amazing time I spent exploring a new place, I was exploring my career options at the same time and not many people get to have that experience, which is so exciting. I will look back on this trip as one of the highlights of my college career, and I would want a friend to have that same wonderful experience.

What will I be allowed to do while shadowing?
While shadowing, you are expected to do just that--be a shadow of your doctor. This means that, while you can ask as many questions as you want, make patient rounds with your doctor, and learn as much as your brain can hold in several weeks, your participation is limited to observation only. We adhere strictly to the AAMC shadowing guidelines, which exist not only for patient safety, but also in your best interests when applying to medical school.
